Back to school makes the weekend more fun. The new movies and TV shows available this weekend on Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, and other streaming services are a real feast for the eyes.

Season 5 of Cobra Kai, which elevates karate action to black belt levels, is the highlight of the schedule. Seasons six and seven of two fan favorites, The Good Fight and Queen Sugar, return for final seasons. Among the new series debuting are the revival of American Gigolo, the historical drama The Serpent Queen and the country musical soap Monarch.

Pinocchio, the live-action movie and BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage, the concert movie, were two of the highlights of the day on Disney Plus.

Cobra Kai season 5 (Netflix)

Once again, the entire soul of the valley is at stake, and karate is the only way for good to defeat evil. Well, I admit that Cobra Kai sets some ridiculous expectations about what it's basically for youngsters to practice martial arts with. But it's entertaining, has a little laugh, and gives you a (high) nostalgia. To defeat evil karate promoter Terry Silver, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) team up in Season 5.

With a group of cold-blooded instructors dedicated to instilling a "no mercy" spirit in their students, he franchises dojos all over the valley. Chozen (Yuji Okumoto), a different former enemy, is recruited by Daniel, but Johnny is preoccupied with personal matters. In addition, the students' growing hostility threatens their already shaky relationship.

American Gigolo (Showtime)

In the follow-up to the 1980 film noir classic, Jon Bernthal stars as Julianne Kane, a sex worker, in place of Richard Gere. It takes place 15 years after Kane's wrongful conviction for killing the wife of a wealthy client.

Recently released from prison, Julien is striving to rebuild his life and accept his past as an escort. He also wants to connect with Michelle, his ex-girlfriend, played by Gretchen Moll, and find out who and why set him up for the crime. Detective Sunday (Rosie O'Donnell), who begins to suspect a larger conspiracy is at work, assists him in the latest endeavor.

The Good Fight season 6 (Paramount Plus)

After its sixth and final season, The Good Fight is leaving the ring. The satirical legal spin-off of The Good Wife publishes its final notes on the life and career of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski).

After leaving her position as name partner at the firm, Diane faces instability as the news is dominated by the Roe v. Wade decision, voting rights, and Cold War assaults. Maybe if she took a tiny amount of an anesthetic, her problems would go away! While Sophie and her husband Kurt continue to feud over politics, to say the least, this draws a dashing doctor (John Slattery) into her social circle. As for Liz (Audra McDonald), the appearance of nefarious new partner Ri'Chard Lane upsets her position as firm president (Ande Braugher).

Queen Sugar season 7 (OWN)

The final season of Ava DuVernay's epic saga features more struggles and triumphs for the Bordelon family. With the farm designated a historic landmark, Ralph Angel (Kofi Seribu) and Darla (Bianca Lawson) have a beautiful baby girl, but the former now needs to carve a new road. Ralph Angel seems to be following this path, becoming increasingly involved with the farmer's group and reflecting on the history of the mill.

However, doing so would revive old scars Nova (Rutina Wesley) receives a proposal to adapt her diary into a motion picture. The reappearance of the two former lovers puts her new relationship with Dominic (McKinley Freeman) to the test. Son Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) stays in New Orleans after his mom and dad make up and he moves back to Los Angeles in order to decide where he really fits.

The Serpent Queen (Starz)

From the White Queen (Elizabeth Woodville) to becoming Elizabeth (Elizabeth I), and now the Serpent Queen (about Catherine de' Medici), Starz has practically created a string of historical dramas centering on royal ladies. Samantha Morton represents the Grand Queen of France; However, the show employs flashbacks to retrace her trajectory from her beginnings as a rich, orphaned girl who marries a prince who falls in love with another lady.

Katherine is in a difficult situation as she also has problems getting pregnant. But she was able to rise to become one of history's most fascinating and influential queens thanks to her wit and shrewdness.

Pinocchio (Disney Plus)

Countless times have been spent reinventing the Pinocchio character. The story of a wooden doll that turned into a real boy has fascinated children for many years. Disney produced the seminal animated film in 1940, and now, more than 50 years later, they're giving the story a new twist in a live-action adaptation.

In Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the Polar Express, director Robert Zemeckis draws on his experience creating visual effects films. Tom Hanks, his regular partner, reconfigures his team as woodworker Geppetto, who prays to the stars for his puppet to come to life. Cynthia Erivo, who plays the Blue Fairy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays Jiminy Cricket, Keegan Michael Key, who plays Honest John, and Lauren Bracco, who plays the new Sophia the Seagull.

Monarch (Fox)

Monarch, a new opera-style drama centered around a large country music family, is the result of the combination of the TV series Nashville and Empire. It is characterized by romance, music, intrigue and betrayals. And murder, of course. hee hee!

The country's king and queen are aging Hollywood icon Dottie Roman (Susan Sarandon) and her wife, Albie (Tress Adkins). Along with her sister Gigi (Beth Ditto) and brother Luke, her daughter Nikki (Anna Friel) is a rising star eager to take her rightful place in the spotlight (Joshua Sasse). It will be difficult for young Romans to deal with the news that their parents' success is built on falsehood, despite the fact that they have a reputation for honesty.

BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA (Disney Plus)

Rank up, BTS Army! This week, in honor of Disney Plus Day, Disney Plus has released a concert film by the unexpectedly hugely successful K-pop group. It's the first of several BTS projects that will be available to watch on the platform, including a trip program starring V and a behind-the-scenes documentary series.

Special footage from their live shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in November and December last year. Since the epidemic began two years ago, V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and J-Hope have not personally interacted with fans. They sing the most famous songs including "Butter", "Dynamite" and "Permission to Dance", which is the title of the song. This is an opportunity to see the group at their best as they take a break to focus on individual projects.

Tell Me Lies (Hulu)

In Hulu's latest drama, the main plot is the incredibly seductive and destructive relationship. When Lucy (Grace Van Patten) meets her ex-boyfriend Stephen (Jackson White) during a wedding, memories of the first meeting eight years ago begin to resurface.

Lucy goes to a frat party on her first day of college and is rejected by big star Stephen. He's a complete liar, but she falls for him mostly because of their explosive chemistry, and their relationship solidifies when they connect over a tragedy. This is just the beginning of a turbulent decade that almost forever changes their lives and the lives of their friends.

Wedding Season (Hulu)

Oddly enough, there's a brand-new drama on Hulu that revolves around a couple who start out at a wedding before returning to their first encounter. But unlike Tell Me Lies, which was a psychological study, Wedding Season is a romantic comedy that evolves into a murder mystery.

Stefan (Gavin Drea) interrupts the ceremony while Katie (Rosa Salazar) is kneeling at the altar. The narrative returns to an earlier wedding, at which Katie and Stefan had a visitor. Although Katie is engaged, they have an affair. Fast forward to her wedding, where poisoning takes the lives of her husband and his entire family. While watching over Katie, Stefan becomes the prime suspect in the investigation.

Central Park season 3 (Apple TV Plus)

Now the Tillermans can relax for a bit after thwarting a sinister plan to level Central Park in order to build condos and shopping malls. Family members can experience new challenges and adventures as entrepreneur Betsy Brandenham (Stanley Tucci) hatches a new plan.

They welcome Abby, voiced by Kristen Bell, to the set of (The Good Place). She comes to New York City to pursue her acting career and is the sister of Paige (Kathryn Hahn). Bell voiced Molly in Season 1, but wisely turned down the part because she's not as multiracial as the character. Season 3 also sees the addition of Sam Richardson (the after party, I Think You Should Leave) as an anxious interim mayor.
